The status of residence “Technical, Humanities, and International Services (hereinafter referred to as “THIS”)” is a typical work visa.
Whenever the expiration date of your visa is approaching, you must prepare for the renewal of your visa.
In this issue, we will introduce the points you should pay attention to in each case.
■POINT 1. If you work for a listed company and have not changed jobs ➡You can apply by yourself!
If your employer is a listed company and there has been no change in your place of employment or the nature of your work since your last renewal, you can apply for renewal simply by gathering your residence card, passport, application form for renewal of period of stay, and documents showing that you are a listed company.
This is the simplest application, so there is no need to request an administrative scrivener or other such service.
■POINT 2. If you have changed jobs since your last renewal, you need to be as careful as if you were applying for the Gijyumin-Kokoku for the first time!
Next, if you have changed companies since your last renewal, it is a bit troublesome.
This is because the immigration bureau’s main point of examination is whether or not your career matches your new job description.
Therefore, in effect, the examination will be conducted at the same level as when you apply for “THIS” for the first time.
In this case, it is advisable to consult a specialist such as an administrative scrivener just to be sure.
However, if you have obtained a Certificate of Eligibility to Work, that is not required either.
The Certificate of Employment Eligibility is a guarantee issued by the Immigration Bureau that the job at your new employer matches your “THIS” requirements, so it is safe for you to change jobs! It is like a certificate of guarantee issued by the Immigration Bureau.
If you attach the Certificate of Employment Eligibility when you apply for permission to extend your period of stay, your application will be approved smoothly.
■POINT 3. If you have changed jobs several times ➡Expert help is recommended!
Finally, if you have changed companies frequently since your last renewal, it is better to ask a specialist such as an administrative scrivener to help you.
The immigration office may not be able to provide you with a stable job. They may suspect that you are not a good candidate for a new job.
The administrative scrivener will be able to properly organize and put in writing why you changed jobs and whether the job matches the requirements set forth by the country of the engineer.
If you apply on your own because you don’t want to waste money and in case your renewal is not approved, you will be in trouble.
Even if the application is not rejected, the three-year period of stay may be reduced to one year.
If this happens, you will have to repeat the renewal process for many years before you receive the three-year period of stay.
■ Summary: If you change jobs, get a work eligibility certificate!
As mentioned above, first of all, we recommend that you do not change jobs as much as possible.
However, there are times when you must change jobs for various reasons.
In such cases, we recommend that you obtain a Certificate of Eligibility to Work.
